Use distutils from the standard library, although it implements an older notion of what a version is. But that is fine here.

This also changes the result as now the first default value that is not
None is chosen in the table. Thus, entries that were empty before might
now contain a default value. Also, we now use "-" instead of empty
colummns for parameters where no default value is specified anywhere in
the code.

Since the list is under version control, one can always reestablish the
list before script execution

* Make make dir of output dir more consise and handle "  " case
* simplify verbose output

When multiple vtk files were given as arguments to the script together
with a base name for the output .csv files, a single csv file was
created that contained the data of the last given vtk file. This commit
adds an index to the file names in case multiple vtk files are provided.

[bin][install] Capture output in log file, print on terminal, print error message in case of failure
